After being bit by a Coral Snake, a Texas man bit off the Snake's head and used its skin as a tourniquet!

Valentin Grimaldo had to act fast after being bit by a Coral Snake while walking along U.S. Highway 281 near Encino with his brother. The Coral Snake is extremely poisonous, and has been known to kill many people.

In order to prevent the venom from spreading from his hand to the rest of his body, Grimaldo had to act fast otherwise he would most certainly end up dead. Grimaldo grabbed the snake, bit off it's head, and skinned the snake. He then used the snake skin as a tourniquet [A device for stopping the flow of blood through an artery, typically by compressing a limb with a cord or tight bandage]  to tie around his hand to prevent the venom from spreading!
After stopping a vehicle on the highway, who drove him to the hospital, Grimaldo survived and now keeps the snake's head as a memory of just another reason why you should NOT mess with Texas.
